Impressions: God of War : Chains of Olympus – First Look

PSP00411 The God of War is finally on Indian shelves and yours truly managed to get his claws on it today (about an hour back). Here are my first impressions.

The first and the last word on this game: Awesome. All the anticipation and hype regarding this title is well worth it. The graphics is great (we are talking about a handheld here). Game play is equally good though the camera can go a bit awry at times. But that’s a rare thing. People used to playing on a console may find the joystick a bit restrictive. Most of the time I found myself pushing very hard on it. Hopefully I wont break it before I finish the game.

I started off at the normal level of difficulty (Hero) and I was surprised to find that, well, it was a bit difficult! Most of the other games I have played on the PSP starts of pretty easy and increases in difficulty as you progress. I reached the first (mini) boss around 15 minutes after I started playing and took some time to finish him off. The thing with bosses in GOW is that when you have nearly finished him/it off you will have to press a sequence of buttons that appear on the screen to complete the kill, and you better be snappy about it. If you happen to delay or press a wrong button, the boss regains some of its health and you will have to start all over again!

I have been playing for about an hour now an I loved every moment of it (ok some moments of frustration too). I wanted to publish this edition before I continue. Who knows, if I start playing again, I might never get back to civilization any time soon!
